Is working hard a crime?
This built up emotion from people with all the good intentions of the world, opting to tell me that I should not be working so hard. I am frustrated, confronted and in desperate need of explaining myself so that hopefully good natured people understand that some things require work.
When you believe in something, and you put your heart and soul into it, it no longer becomes work. It is just part of making your dream a reality.
In my life, everytime I have had to work hard towards achieving a goal, and done the hard yards, it has always come true. Every single time. No exception.
It's incredible to think that 8 years ago, I had a dream to build a global small business marketing company. For 7 years, I thought about it and made a few trips overseas, but I knew that I wasn't personally ready for the challenge and to actually put in the work that needs to occur to make this dream come alive. In short, I wasn't ambitious enough.
Since January, I have been working 7 days a week and I have a plan for everything imaginable that will help make this dream come alive. I am 100% dedicated to seeing it through and building a global empire that is successful and the most innovative of its type. I believe that what I am doing is industry-leading, and in the best interests of small businesses globally.
In the past 8 years, I have learnt alot about small business owners and the obstacles that they have to overcome to grow. Like all entrepreneurs, small business owners are faced with running an entire business, without often having certain skill-bases to make sure that an area of their business receives the attention it deserves so collectively the entire business can be a success.
For us, our 'hold-back' was always people. Finding the right people for the right job and building a culture conducive to productivity and excellence. Everything else was right, but this one area wasn't and it held the business back. Our hands were tied. We couldn't expand and couldn't get past a certain point.
Finally, we learnt to hire the right people in to the organisation so that they can be responsible for employing a team of people that together are building a great, highly motivated culture of positivity and dedication to one cause - and that is helping small businesses grow.
We are now ready to tackle the world of global expansion and the US is our first port of call. It's exciting and at times exhilarating to be part of this wonderful journey and adventure. The people we are meeting along the way are interesting and inspiring. Our team believes in the dream. We are all on the same page.
But it does take hard work, long hours, sacrifices and missed birthdays. Do your friends understand your dedication to your business or career? Please share your experiences.

18 May 2012Hard work is a good thing, however too much of a good thing can be bad. Don't get me wrong, working hard is something i've always gone by and I have also sacrificed a few things along the way in order to put in the hard yards. I believe that there should be a balance between work and everything else in your life. I like to keep things balanced, but I still keep work and future aspirations as one of my top priorities because i know that my family and friends will always be there. Friends and family are also very busy and we always change schedules for when to meet up for chat, drinks etc

03 May 2012Working hard is not a crime, this is just the best way to obtain what you expect about life and your future. My motto is "When you want something, do everything possible to obtain it" and I am sure that if someone is courageous and ready to work hard, he will be successful.

01 May 2012Working hard is not a crime, as you have written, "When you believe in something, and you put your heart and soul into it, it no longer becomes work. It is just part of making your dream a reality." I think that if you want something in life you should be able to work as hard as you want and as long as you want until you get it. Continue to make your dreams come true.

01 May 2012There are so-called gurus that say you don't have to work hard and make six-figures on the internet. If this is true, why are there so many selling their system?
ReplyI freelance and I can tell you that finding quality clients isn't easy and takes time, lots of time and dedication.

30 Apr 2012Working hard is good thing and I am sure that your team sees it this way. The reason why they ask you stop working hard might be because they are concerned about the size of your personal space comparing to your professional one.
ReplyIf the professional accomplishment is important, so is your personal one because if the figures don't talk, relatives, friends and family does and have feelings for you.

30 Apr 2012Working hard is certainly not a crime but I think a limit is good to not be overtaken.
ReplyWork could be a drug and as all these substances it could be lead to overdoses. This is not concerning just you but your family circle. That's what I'll try to avoid!
The only difference from the other drugs is that working hard can make you richer. But is it really the main aim to have?
But this is a question which everyone will answer differently!

30 Apr 2012This is a perfect example of how we should follow our dreams and make them come true.
ReplyWorking hard towards anything in life makes you better in that. You should be proud of you self and I am sure you are having a good company like Marketing Eye and still working towards making it better.
However many people would say that people sho work hard don't have a life. But as you said if you are working towards achieveing your goals it is becoming part of your life aspirations.

30 Apr 2012After reading most of your blogs I truly believe you are not only hardworking, but passionate in your business venture. I don't own a company but I started working odd hours which did not coincide with a lot of my friends schedules and they saw less of me. I wish I could work normal working hours but this is what pays the bills for now so I am grateful that I could at least spare a few hours in a week to still catch up with them.
ReplySometimes I do dream of what I'd like to achieve in the future and my best bet is to just dream big and start planning slowly. I'm sure you will achieve whatever your heart desires :)
