The love of my life...
When I think about love, I think about looking into someone's eyes and knowing what they are thinking. Touching someone's face and wanting to close your eyes to soak in the moment.
I've been in love twice and I don't regret a single thing. To have those feelings, no matter whether the relationship worked or not, is incredibly special.
Too often people settle for a person that ticks boxes - and there is nothing wrong with that. It's just not me. I want less boxes ticked and only a few important things, with the first being that I need to be madly in love with that person, so much so that I can't stop thinking, dreaming and wanting to be with them and would be prepared to travel to the end of the earth, just to walk by their side.
I'm a romantic. You may have gathered that. I make no excuses for believing that the best is yet to come, and the timeline is long, so there is no rush. I believe you meet people for a reason, a season or a lifetime. Sometimes it's hard to let go, but you have to. Other times, it's worth fighting for.
Passion cannot be underestimated. There are few people that evoke passion in you that sends you crazy - and only then do you know that there is something different about your feelings for that person over another.
Often I have been asked, what would it take for me to truly settle down? It is simple. I would need to be madly in love with someone and embrace their flaws as if they don't exist. The thought of picking them up when they are down, and being there regardless of what is going on in their lives, should not be something you think about, but just do. Too often, people give up. I cannot see myself ever doing that. Life is not all perfect, and it is the imperfections that make us a better person. I know my faults and realise that there isn't a person in the world who is perfect. If they have integrity, honesty and respect, then it's an incredible start. These things are important and everything else can be worked out.
If I could capture in one sentence, what romantic "love" means to be it would be: the feeling of just wanting to stand still with someone, and whatever extends from that can only be seen as a blessing.
