Successful people never quit

The world works in wonderful ways, and quite often we don’t even realise it.

We were all meant to be doing the things we are doing, for the time we are doing it. That is a fact.

Each year we search high and low at ways in which we can improve our business and company culture.

Like many businesses, we feel as though we have tried everything - and at times it works, and sometimes we quite simply fall flat on our faces.

I'm sitting at the Qantas Lounge at the Melbourne International Airport ready to board another flight to Los Angeles. I am a tad tired. 2.15am wakeup wasn't my best work, but sometimes excitement does get the best of me. Travelling for me, is exciting and part of the bigger adventure. I get to meet people that inspire me, shock me and sometimes join me on my journey as a friend, client or person "I just know".

Meeting people when you are an introvert is completely and utterly out of your comfort zone, and I know the value of being outside your comfort zone. It's one of the best things that can happen, especially if you are an entrepreneur.

Wow! And he owns....

I was speaking to a journalist yesterday and was informing them of the speakers at the upcoming North Queensland Entrepreneurs Conference. While it may be branded that, people from all over the world are embarking on travelling to Townsville for this conference - that is how high the calibre of speakers are.

The main speaker is incredibly dear to me, as he has known me for a very long time. He has seen me transform from a young enthusiastic business woman (girl), to a woman that has more confidence and knowledge in so many different areas of business and industry sectors. At long last I can say that to most companies - I can add value. I think that transition is obvious in so many ways, and when you see someone on that journey, it is quite interesting to say the least.

Have you ever wondered what it is like getting to first base, ready for the second base but never quite making the home run you hoped for?

As a female entrepreneur, I have big goals, and my dreams are not only something I think about often, I have carefully strategised the execution of a plan to achieve each and every dream I have had for myself.

I'd be lying if I said that there weren't quite a few things that have held me back as an entrepreneur, and been the catalyst to 'not being an overnight success story'.

After 17 years in business, I have created my dream job. I work for no-one. I answer to no-one. I go to work everyday with enthusiasm because I don't have to go to work - I just love every single bit about my job.

Next week is a big one. I will be speaking at the most esteemed women's conference in Australia, the inaugural Inspiring Rare Birds Con, founded by serial entrepreneur and mentor to many, the beautiful Jo Burston.
