As an entrepreneur, I have found that being a woman has been hugely advantageous to our business and continues to drive our business to new heights as it opens more doors than it closes.

While I have experienced inequality, and yes it has come from men, but overall, it is women that are more likely to hold other women back - and that is fact in today's society.

As a woman entrepreneur, giving it a go, it is very important that I empower other women to do the same and support women and men in their journeys as entrepreneurs and citizens of the world. Likewise, no person gets a job in my company due to sex, but rather ability to do the job and self-starting attitude. If they are not a self-starter, and prepared to work hard and learn, then quite frankly, they don't last.

Not just your average day. I started mine at 5 a.m. eagerly awaiting my flight time of 9 a.m. to Sydney, with so much anticipation and excitement, I literally couldn't contain myself. This past few weeks has been very exciting, adventurous and rewarding in so many ways - I can't begin to explain.
There is nothing in this world that you cannot do if you set your mind to it.

It's 2 a.m. in the morning. I lay awake having just flown in the day before from Los Angeles. My eye's are sore, and somewhat tired, but my mind is wide awake. I can't seem to get back to sleep. I get up and get a drink from the fridge.

What is holding me back?

Wow! I really mean WOW! Today has been a phenomenal day, and a catalyst for change.

Taking some good advice from a friend, I have been on the road to a new journey of self-discovery and it is a complete eye-opener.

The pressure of growing your business is insurmountable with the number of areas that each business has to consider.

As a company, Marketing Eye has been a company who believes that growth is imperative to keep employees engaged, stay ahead of the curve and invest in areas such as innovation and technology – but this is all not easily funded.

I came across a company recently that sparked my attention: Kabbage.

Once I started accepting that I was in fact an entrepreneur, I started living it. Not quite like those who don't really have a job and say they are entrepreneurs to sound "cool" or so that one would think that they at the very least had some purpose - but more like the type that wakes up every morning and races to the office.

It challenges me to talk about my roots because there are some things you keep personal. I have grown so much over the past 42 years, as we all have, and I don't particularly like that shy, intimidated young girl that I once was. And there are many people that remember that girl well.

I visited my first boss, who reminded me of that. He said I had changed so much. He was right. He remembers me as the Catholic girl from Charters Towers, who was so shy that I use to put my finished work in my in-tray hoping miraculously that someone would take it out and give it to the right person.

Yesterday I was bursting at the seams. Life couldn't get much better. I had a few meetings and they went so well, that I literally couldn't stop smiling and that feeling deep inside was one that I haven't felt in a long time.

There are so many things that entrepreneurs do right, and often it is for the world to see. Yet there are still some things that we don't quite get right. 2016 is going to be a huge year. There is so much in store and while we all focus on business, the Government has a few headaches not just with stimulating economic growth, but ISIS and climate change.
