Yesterday I had a meeting with a prospect that is about to list a company on the Australian Stock Exchange.
We discussed his plans, then I went through an overview of Marketing Eye and what we do. In my overview, I discuss four different areas of our business; outsourced marketing department, technology, media and education.
When I go through media, I always discuss our publication Marketing Eye Magazine and the company's significant social media presence. In particular, I talk about the number one reason people arrive at our website, our blog.
He said, "I know about your blog. I saved one of them to my iphone in 2013 that resonated with me".

Wow! I mean WOW! Clearly I know people read my blogs and share them, but to save to your iphone is a whole other ball game.
The blog was a "feelings" blog and I know that blogs that talk about my opinions on the world, relationships and business, always receive more hits than those about marketing or entrepreneurship.
What I have worked out is that my brand is very real and about the failures and success I have in life and business. Basically, it shares the truth of the experiences we have, yet few of us dare to share for fear of people not viewing us in the ideal way in which we wish to be perceived.
I learned a long time ago, that pretending to be someone I am not doesn't work. It's just like someone who is gay, pretending to be straight. Living with an image that you want for people to have of you is sheer torment. It restricts you from being you - and you are singularly the most powerful tool you have.
What makes us different makes us beautiful. It is something that I say over and over again. I never "get" why people want to change who they are for the sake of how they want to be perceived. People, and in particular woman, change their looks because they believe in this ideal of who they should be. They go under the knife and risk their lives, all because they look in the mirror and they don't like what they see.
The day I looked in the mirror and realised that those things about myself that I didn't "love" where singularly my biggest assets, I started to move forward. Instead of wasting time thinking about things that I could change, I started thinking about the things I could do to improve what I already have. It's a subtle difference, but it's important.
In business I fail alot. It feels like I never stop learning from my experiences. Sometimes I am human and I wish that the lessons would stop, but now that I look back, I feel so lucky to have had them. No matter how hard the experience was in my life, there is a certainty that it would have taught me something.
No-one's life is perfect and no matter how much we want for people to think that it is, by sharing how we feel we are unleashing the one thing that is restricting us from being a better version of ourselves.
My blogs are a place that I can share experiences I have, while at the same time providing people with information on marketing and entrepreneurship. This mixture keeps thousands of people coming back each day, engaging with "my brand" and Marketing Eye. It singularly is our more influential marketing medium and continues to provide us with endless hot leads.
