'We work' better than ever before : Mellissah Smith

I have realized so much over the past 12 months in my business expansion journey, and the main thing that I have come to know is that it is so important to have a home base, somewhere that you can come back to, with all your things around you, bringing you comfort. For now, it is my Melbourne office. 

I am anticipating everyone coming into work today and am truly appreciative of their work, wisdom, talents and above all, dedication to helping each other achieve goals.

After two weeks off over Christmas doing not much more than enjoying myself on my brother's family property, and soaking up the creative juices that lay on the streets of New York, 2015 has been a fresh start.

I am positive that there will only be good times, great memories and a continued strategic growth phase in the business that elevates our current teams abilities, scope and participation in what is going to be the most remarkable year ever.

I don't feel challenged in any way, and my focus is less on growth as this will organically occur, and more on our employees and our clients. How can I do things better? How can we do things better? What type of boss do I want to be? How much can I use my own skills to help encourage our team to work harder, faster and smarter for our clients?

Starting a new year gives us all an opportunity to improve every aspect of our lives. 

I see it as my opportunity to make changes, be happier, and help others realize their dreams.

My focus this year is on many things, but for once they are not overwhelming. I can achieve them with the right people, organisational structure, and vision that comes from being more mature, learning valuable lessons and bringing people into your life that are positive.

The first parcel I opened when I sat at my desk for the first time in almost a month was a series of postcards:

The second piece of mail that I opened was from an incubator style work environment "wework" that is located throughout the US. We will sit in their offices in Seattle for a few months as we grow out the business. But what stood out for me by this piece of direct mail was that wework is 'The platform for creators' and I can definitely relate to that. 

What Marketing Eye does is provide the platform for entrepreneurs, business owners and CEO's to grow their businesses exponentially. 

I am really looking forward to what 2015 brings, and am very happy to be sitting in my seat, with the team around me that I always dreamed I would have. They are smart, intelligent, proactive and thought leaders in their own way. They bring so much more to the table than I every remember a Marketing Eye team bringing. 

And on top of all of that, I adore them. They make my work family all the more special.
