5 life lessons travel taught me

89 days, 16 countries, 6 different languages and a lifetime experience. It's safe to say these past three months were nothing short of an absolute blast, but travelling was honestly more than that, it was an incredible lifetime opportunity filled with lessons and one of kind experiences one can only imagine.

Why every marketer needs to travel

“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes.

There really is nothing like travelling to broaden your horizons and open your eyes a little more. So why does every marketer need to take the time to travel?

Who has fallen in love with the 'new shiny toy' and forgotten about their old one's?

I have definitely done this so many times. My mentor always says to me "The new girl is always prettier than the girl you took to the dance". So true. I can attest to that.

With the launch of the new iPhone 8, 8s and X, no doubt there will be queues in all major capital cities for the coveted device, despite prices reaching almost $2,000 AUD for their X model. People have begun posting jobs on Airtasker, which is an online marketplace to outsource jobs, willing to pay up to $300 for people to line up for them to buy the new iPhone on the day of release.

The question is one that every marketer should know how to answer, how has Apple created an offering so compelling that it pulls customers towards their product? Despite Apple providing no discounts and premium pricing.

While many millennials have checked employment history, it's not hard for those who don't to stand out from the crowd and be the candidate of choice.

The world is full of opportunities and career choices doesn't have to include career 'mistakes' if you know a few ways to trick how you think about things, to ensure that you are not feeling the pinch of regret when you can't see the forest from the trees.

It is about taking the consumer by surprise, making an indelible impression and creating copious amounts of social buzz.

Yesterday was the last day of an internship for a young man who had chosen Marketing Eye Melbourne as the place he was going to learn and work out where he wants to be after he graduates.

Last days are always hard. Firstly, if you have finished everything that you were working on, you tend to just do task that have to be done, rather than projects that may benefit your internship and future employment prospects. Secondly, it's a day of reflection. What did you get out of your internship? Was it worthwhile? Are your colleagues friends of the future? Do you want to work at the company that you did your internship at? Have you chosen the right career path? Are you more confused than ever?

Less hustle, more bustle. That's what I say. I know most entrepreneurs talk about how they hustle their way to success. I can safely say, I have not. In fact, I dream of being a hustler, but fall dissimile short of this in every way possible because I am one of those people who can tell you what I do if you ask, but won't broadcast due to the fact that I am actually shy.
